The Brass Friction Ring is effectively a slip ring that fits inside a Tubular Gauge Glass nut. It’s placed between the inner ledge of the nut and the back of the Gauge Glass washer, preventing the gauge glass nut from grabbing the rubber gauge glass washer and tearing it.
